Sonora Duet Battle

Isometric typography
If you have seen my work on custom isometric fonts (here) and robot desk mat design (here), you’ll know how much I’m obsessed with isometry and isometric design in general.
There are obviously many things I can do to further unify these characters but overall, I am happy with how they fit in the style I want to convey - vintage, fancy, magical look.

Start with horizontal symmetry
This whole illustration demonstrates the idea of sound, vibration and frequencies in variety of forms. The moon? Just the magical touch that sits surprisingly well with the concept. With lots of organic lines and curves, I also threw in the mini rectangles. Their sharp outward look can help tie the whole illustration together.
I have always wanted to illustrate something ‘tarot’-like or witchy classy vibes. I am glad that Procreate makes this a hundred times easier than doing in on Illustrator. These are all done by hand and definitely can improve the sharpness by recreating on Illustrator.
(The moon isn’t as smooth as I want it to be but it sure does not make me feel like an imposter lol.)
Radial symmetry to finish up
The brief is to design a round logo and I COMPLETELY FORGOT (my bad!). I do not hate how it turns out but it’s this bittersweet feeling seeing your baby cut off when uploaded lol.
People can always say that ‘oh it’s just symmetry, you only need to duplicate it and you have your design ready’. I also had the same thought until I actually tried doing it and I’m telling you this is NOT easy. All the elements are pretty simple and straightforward here, and I’d love to explore this style more in the future projects.
